Caution - External use only. Milk thistle can cause allergic reactions in some people, especially those individuals who are allergic to ragweed, marigolds, daisies and chrysanthemums. Avoid in cases of known allergy.
Uses - Milk Thistle is a stout annual or biennial plant with purple, thistle-like flower heads in summer, followed by black seeds with tufts of white hair. The oil is extracted from the ripe seeds. It contains essential fatty acids, sterols, anti-oxidants and Vitamin E and is useful for cosmetics. It is nutritive and protective for the skin and has traditionally been used as an aid to liver function.

The Soil Association’s standards exceed the UK government's minimum requirements for organic products in many areas, but particularly in animal welfare, GM and the use of pesticides.
