NEW delicious Organic skin cream from Honey, Pollen, Propolis & Royal Jelly

Bee Yummy Raw & Organic skin food

Bee Yummy Raw & Organic skin food

Bee Yummy skin Cream is made from wildflower honey, Honey cappings, Bee pollen, Propolis & Royal jelly, Purified Water, and Balsam Fir Needles as fragrance.  These ingredients have been hand harvested in a small wilderness area with its own microclimate.  Honey, Pollen, Propolis & Royal Jelly are made by the same colony of bees from a small apiary, which accounts for energetic harmony and synergy of our cream.  Honey is collected from the wildflowers, is unfiltered (just dripped from the comb), and contains the cappings of the hive with their precious, mysterious substances.  Pollen, depending on season, is from a mixture of Wild Dandelion, Wild Roses, Raspberries, Asparagus, Goldenrod, Wild Apples, and Cherry Tree blossoms.  Propolis is of the highest quality: only from Poplar and Fir trees.  The flowers of St. Johnswort are picked by hand at noon, when the juices are drawn up from the roots, stems and leaves into the flowers.  Only select, young tips of balsam of Fir are used as a vitamin C source.   No preservatives are needed because Honey, Propolis, and Balsam Fir are nature’s best preservatives and antibiotics.  Honey is the only food on earth that will keep forever, and so will this cream.  You have our full money back guarantee.

Bee Yummy is incredibly nourishing for the skin.  Within minutes of application your skin will absorb as many as 80 nutrients contained in Honey (which also acts as a moisturizer by holding moisture several times its own weight, and as a cleanser and emollient; enzyme content of honey is one of the highest in all foods), over 96 nutrients contained in Bee Pollen, as well as hormones, enzymes, antioxidants and antibacterial elements present in Propolis and Royal jelly.  St. Johnswort and Propolis are known for their anti-inflammatory and astringent properties and will speed up healing of wounds, burns sunburns and bruises.  As a cosmetic cream Bee Yummy nourishes your skin with at least 27 minerals, 22 amino acids, 105 live enzymes & co-enzymes, hormones, antioxidants, bioflavonoids and pigments.

Another, amazing, if not the main feature of Bee Yummy is its healing effect.  It is excellent to help heal wide range of skin conditions: burns, sunburns, open wounds & cuts, pimples, blemishes, bed sores, stretch marks, chapping etc.  We have reports from our clients that it has been very helpful for psoriasis, eczema, rosatia, poison ivy and other conditions.

It also feels gorgeous and smells divine, we love it!

How To Use:

As a rejuvenating & moisturizing cream use it 2-3 times a day.  As a therapeutic, healing salve use it every 60-90 minutes on the affected area.

I completely agree with the Soil Assocation about greenwashing.
From Kolinka Zinovieff

Bad ingredients

Lifting the lid on health and beauty products labelled as ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ that actually contain harmful chemicals found in antifreeze, oven cleaner and car oil

We are asking the giants of the beauty industry to stop misleading the public with false claims. These are just three of the products we found claiming to be ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ containing harmful chemicals or no organic ingredients.

To get the full story, read Soil Association Policy Director Peter Melchett’s blog.

For more coverage on the issue see articles in the Daily Mail and Vogue.

If you are concerned about a product and its organic claims let us know and we will follow it up, email

soil ass

Look for the symbol you can trustMisleading consumers like this has to stop, that’s why we are calling on the health and beauty industry to provide tighter regulation. EU laws ensure any food product labeled organic meets legal standards and is independently certified by a recognised body such as the Soil Association. Unfortunately, there are no EU regulations concerning the labeling of organic or natural beauty products. The only way to be sure you are buying a genuine organic beauty product is to look for an official certification label, such as the Soil Association symbol shown here.

The Soil Association’s has hit out at “greenwashing” claims made by some natural beauty brands.
In a talk at the Organic & Natural Beauty Show (3 June), he highlighted a number of harmful chemicals found in beauty products labelled as ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ or ‘nature inspired’.
Melchett said that ingredients often found in antifreeze, floor cleaner, oven cleaner or car oil and ingredients banned in children’s food and toys were making their way into non-certified beauty products labelled as organic or natural due to a lack of industry regulation.
While strict EU laws ensure any food product labelled organic meets legal standards and is independently certified by a recognised body, there are currently no EU regulations concerning the labelling of organic or natural beauty products.
Melchett said consumers were being misled and that the Soil Association was calling on the health and beauty industry to use terms like ‘organic and ‘natural’ “accurately or not at all”.
He said the only way consumers could be sure they were buying a genuine organic beauty product was to look for an official certification label. Under the Soil Association standard, for example, to use the word organic in the product name, a product must contain over 95% organic ingredients, excluding water.
The Soil Association has singled out Boots for particular criticism over the issue. It points out that in 2012 the high street retailer was investigated by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) over the marketing of ‘Little Me Organics Oh So Gentle Hair and Body Wash’. The ASA ruled Boots’ advertising was misleading as the product contains less than 5% organic ingredients. The ASA found that a product should be defined as organic only if it contains a high proportion of organic ingredients.
The organic charity claims Boots and other retailers have failed to take on board the implications of the ruling (in some cases brands have simply changed advertising and website claims but retained those original ‘misleading’ claims on pack designs which fall outside the ASA’s reach). It says other leading international brands continue to market products misleadingly as ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ while using synthetic ingredients, some suspected of being carcinogens.
Peter Melchett, told an audience in London: “It is wrong that people are putting chemicals found in antifreeze, paint, oven cleaner and floor cleaner on their skin, when they thought they were buying a product made from only natural or organic ingredients. This must stop.
“There is a lot of confusion about organic health and beauty products and the Soil Association is always happy to give advice to producers and retailers. To try and help tackle this problem, we are coordinating a national Organic Beauty Weekend on the 7th and 8th of September. The Soil Association will be organising a range of taster and sample sessions with some of the UK’s most significant organic health and beauty brands, producers and retailers. We would be delighted to hear from other producers and retailers who would like to join in.”

A wonderful Womens only Retreat:

VITAL WOMAN SUMMER RETREAT which will take place from 26th to 30th of July 2013 with Sushi Mahto and Natasha Saltzer. read below for details or click here www.escaperetreat.org/

I have been dreaming of creating an inspirational female retreat for a long time and have recently set up the “Escape Retreats” VITAL WOMAN SUMMER RETREAT which will take place from 26th to 30th of July 2013 with Sushi Mahto and Natasha Saltzer.

Sushi does inspirational work with women as a doula, shiatsu practitioner and yoga teacher. We are both working

mums and know first hand how challenging it can be to get the balance right. Together we decided to dream up our perfect retreat, where we would most like to go if we could take some time for ourselves and that is how Escape Retreats was created. Natasha joined us at the perfect moment, to weave in her creativity and magic and offer our participants visionary workshops to allow them to really explore their needs as women.

We wanted to be able to drop everything, be somewhere beautiful and peaceful and have all our needs taken care of. To move our bodies, stretch, relax and be fed delicious energising food. We also wanted to have the time to explore what it is we most need to achieve that state in our everyday lives with inspirational teachers guiding us.

I have been working mainly with women for some years now. I look closely at why my clients are out of balance taking into account every possible factor so that together we can create a programme that will reduce stress in their system and address any unmet needs. Over the years I have become more and more in awe of the extraordinary women that I meet and work with because of their ability to juggle so many things. There is a common thread that runs through these women though and that is they usually give so much more than they receive and very often put their needs aside for so long that they lose sight of what those needs are.

This theme ran through a Path of Pollen training that I did at The Sacred Trust called Arte Tryptych where we worked with the sacred nature of the feminine. One of the teachers, Kate Shela used the hive as metaphor for how its possible to live as a woman. The female bees work as one each doing tiny amounts with pleasure while communing with their sisters. Each worker bee does the work she is most suited to and in this way each bee is supported by the hive which as a whole achieves miracles.

This is such a contrast to our society where many women who are taking care of their family and home whilst also working, completely exhausted yet continuing to smile and pretending that they are OK, that they can carry on, all the time on the edge of burn out. And many are unable to admit they need support or ask for it. The bar is set so high these days for women. Our female ancestors would never have dreamed of trying to do all that we do.

The teachings that were shared by my teachers at The Sacred Trust were based around honouring our needs as women and becoming truly nourished so that we can become our best expression of ourselves. And that light will touch and inspire everyone we have contact with. My experience in following this wisdom is that love, support, creativity, laughter and time just to be are as

important as good nutrition, exercise and sleep. I remember my first visit to The Sacred Trust. I had been working too hard and felt tired and fragile. The combination of the feeling of sisterhood and love from the women I worked with and the incredible food

that they gave us, sent me into a blissful state which I will never forget. It was so inspiring to realise that it might be possible to create that state in my everyday life. That it could be possible to feel that way all the time.

The place we chose to run our retreats is somewhere that feels like the most peaceful place in the world to me and that is The Mill Retreat Centre in France. See http://www.millretreatcentre.com/ for amazing photos. There’s a feeling of such space, light and clear energy inside the house and the grounds are so beautiful and include a lake and converging rivers. I particularly love the gathering around fires both inside and outside which feels central to the magic of the group energy there.

The food element of the retreat felt really key to me – I often hear from my clients “ I wish someone could just do it for me!” when they are transitioning from processed foods to more nutritious meals. We want our guests to feel energised and light but at the same time nourished and satisfied from the delicious tastes. The solution was to find two very talented raw food chefs to create the food for us. The brief we gave them was to design a menu which will be nutritious and cleansing but taste incredible and be completely satisfying. Amy Levin specialises in raw patisserie and chocolate and will be offering her amazing concoctions at afternoon tea.  Russell James is a well known raw food chef who makes food into an art form. Its a chance to experience how foods can be used as medicine without any compromise on taste.

Natasha will be leading shamanic workshops focused on exploring our own intuition and ability to really see what we need in our lives, what might be missing and how we can bring this in. She is an energy healer whose work I know well and have enormous respect for.

Sushi will be teaching movement classes and yoga in the beautiful attic space which will allow our participants to come fully into their bodies and start each day feeling energised and grounded ready for the inspiration that follows. Sushi will be with the group throughout the retreat to provide loving support to anyone who needs it.

I will be offering participants the chance to look in detail at their health with me and explain how their hormones, digestion and energy are all linked. This will include advice on how to strengthen each system to create energy and vitality. There will be a unique focus for each woman and this work will be done during one on one sessions.

Our intention is that each woman returns home feeling energised and happy with a sense of what they need to live a full and passionate life and knowing that by honouring their own needs they will gain the strength to achieve whatever they dream of.

It will be a time for complete nourishment, magic, fun and transformation.

We are all so looking forward to this Vital Woman Retreat. To join us please go to http://www.escaperetreat.org/ for more details. We have tried to keep the costs right down and so are only charging £625 for the whole 5 days including all accommodation, extraordinary food and teachings.

Active LightWorks

Active LightWorks is a charity supported by NHR Organic Oils that provides complementary therapies to people in Brighton and Hove. Formed in 2006, we work with experienced qualified practitioners to provide very low cost and free access to therapies.

We carry out projects in the local community, and also at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and Royal Sussex County Hospital, and our main focus is on working with people who have chronic health issues.

We know from our own client feedback that complementary therapy can make a real difference, helping to relieve symptoms of chronic and acute illness. It can also help people to manage stress levels, and aid relaxation and sleep.

We offer a range of touch-based therapies including holistic massage, reflexology, shiatsu, reiki, Bowen therapy, Indian head massage and integrated energy therapy.

All 25 of our therapists are professionally qualified in their field and are comprehensively insured. They donate their time and services out of a genuine desire to make a difference and usually receive a small payment to cover expenses.

Our Hospital Projects

We currently have 7 therapists who volunteer on our hospital projects and we provide about 80 hours of therapy each month to approximately 80 patients and their families, at the two hospitals.

We give reiki therapy to children, babies and their families in the High Dependency Unit at the Royal Alex. The therapy has been really well received and parents will often ask to have reiki as well, which can help to relax them at what is often a very stressful time. The doctors and nurses are delighted that ALW are giving this therapy regularly and have asked for us to place more therapists in 2013.

We also provide light-touch massage therapy to patients in the Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex and work primarily in the Chemotherapy Unit, the End of Life Care Unit and the Gynaecology Unit.

Community Projects

Over the past year, our new focus has been to work in partnership with other community groups on projects, where we run monthly events and provide a number of therapies using a shared space. This enables us to offer very low cost therapies for between £3 and £6 a session. Our aim is to build longer term relationships with these groups and we plan to run these projects for 6 to 12 months.

We currently give 35 hours of therapy per month on these projects.

Our current projects include:

1. The Dementia Café project – We were delighted to get funding from the Big Lottery Fund to run a 12 month project in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society. We offer hand and shoulder massage to people with dementia and their carers, who attend two monthly evening cafés in Brighton and Hove.

Picture
NHR Organic Oils logo
With thanks to the Big Lottery Fund and NHR Organic Oils for their support

The events have been really successful and we usually give hand massage to around 10 people at each café evening.

Since the project started in Nov we have given around 70 x 20 mins hand massages.

We have had feedback from the Alzheimer’s project manager and attendees that they really enjoy having the massage, and it is very relaxing and calming for those clients with dementia.

2. The Peer Action project – This is a 12 month project where we see people who are living with or affected by HIV. We have been able to offer a wide range of therapies including massage, reflexology, shiatsu, energy therapy, Indian head massage and Bowen therapy. These sessions are given for a low cost price of £6.

Since the project started in August 2012 and March we have given 110 half hour therapy sessions.

3. Elwyn Jones Court Project with the Elderly – We have recently set up a new 6 month pilot working in partnership with Brighton Council.

This is a monthly therapy event at Elwyn Jones Court Sheltered Housing Unit where we give 30 minute therapy sessions to the elderly residents who are based there for the low cost price of £3. We plan to offer therapy to 16 people each month.

Massage can have a positive impact on physical and mental health. Elderly people can often feel very isolated, so focused touch from a skilled therapist can help reduce these feelings and build a sense of connection.

New Therapists

We are always looking for new therapists to join us who can give massage, reflexology, Bowen, shiatsu, Indian head massage, reiki and energy therapy.

Similarly, we are still looking for project coordinators, who can run the monthly events.

Our therapists tend to volunteer for one or two events each month. We try to be as flexible as possible and are happy for people to volunteer for a couple of months and then take a couple of months off, if they need to.

We hope to increase the number of therapists and project coordinators we have as this will enable us to carry out more projects and bring more complementary therapy to our local hospitals and community.

Benefits of working with us include being part of a supportive team, receiving specialist training for continued professional development, and for newly qualified therapists, the chance to build up treatment hours.

Star Khechara

Star Khechara is co-teacher for our Diploma in Organic Essential oils that we run at The Mill Retreat in France.

As a self-confessed ‘Potion Geek’ Star is passionate about utilising the seemingly magical properties in pure essential oils for her work in the cosmetic industry. Here she gives you an insight into the fragrant path that led her to work with NHR Organic oils.

I’ve been fascinated by the healing properties of plants for as long as I can remember; from that first time at aged 8 when I saw someone drying Chamomile to make tea, to the exciting discovery of an old-fashioned cosmetic book on my mum’s bookshelf. I read everything I could about the oils and all of my spare money (which wasn’t a lot when I was 16) went on buying essential oils so I could ‘play’ with them. I was just as in love with the fragrance as with the medicinal properties that the books I read informed me of. Making incense and scented oils became a beloved pastime and I was desperate to learn more.

At age 18 I persuaded my family to pay for me to train in Aromatherapy and had dreams of having my own treatment room where I tended to the ills of the world with my aromatic medicine. Sadly, very quickly into the course I discovered that I hated touching people physically during the massage training and unfortunately – for some unknown reason – in the UK you have to practise massage to become an Aromatherapist. Downhearted but not defeated I continued with my studies in private and spent the next decade fervently creating skincare products and cataloguing my formulations. It wasn’t long before others starting noticing my skills and I was asked to write for a couple of niche magazines: Funky Raw and The Mother. I also overcame my nerves enough to start teaching workshops in DIY natural skincare and I discovered that I really got a kick out of seeing everyone’s faces light up when they successfully created their own products, teaching gave me a joy that aromatherapist training hadn’t and I realised I had found my ‘thing’.

Via a series of contacts, while in Spain, I happened to meet someone who was friends with the MD of a publishing house, and with all those great ‘coincidences’ I found myself with a publishing contract to write The Holistic Beauty Book (Green Books, 2008). Within a few years of publication, and due to email demand from my readers, I went on to create the School of Holistic Cosmetology, teaching the science and art of advanced skincare formulation.

I’ve always had very strong ideals and wanted my skincare concoctions to be as pure and as ethical as possible, I always sourced organic wherever possible and refused to use any ingredients that harmed the planet or animals. I was so happy to find NHR oils; Kolinka’s ethical philosophy totally mirrored my own and you can just tell by the oils themselves that you’re using something really special. I never once thought we’d meet and that I would be helping to create and teach the diploma course – as usual a series of coincidences was involved…

A friend forwarded a copy of the NHR newsletter where Kolinka had asked for a teaching assistant for the diploma course at The Mill; strangely for the last few months previous I’d been looking at the postcard of The Mill that arrives in my organic oil orders and thinking ‘I’m sure I should be involved in this’. Kolinka was asking for an Aromatherapist and I am not one, but being a proactive type I sent my CV off anyway and it was obviously meant to be as I am now co-teacher of the fantastic Diploma in Organic Essential Oils and I love it. I teach the cooking with essential oils, base oils blending, essential oil chemistry and organic standards of horticulture modules. The last 2 courses have been wonderful and I even gave an impromptu wild herb walk to pass on more of my plant knowledge.

I love teaching and empowering others with knowledge and new skills so they in turn empower and inspire others. Seeing the joy in the eyes of our students on the course is the best thing in the world when you are passionate about these precious gifts from nature.

I never thought that my childhood love for medicinal plants and essential oils would lead me through such an exciting career path, no matter what else happened in my life the oils were always playing their part – guiding me on, never letting me give up on my dream.

There is something quite intoxicating and magical about essential oils, every day they delight my senses and I feel blessed to have been brought to NHR to help deliver their training to others.

I hope to meet some of you on the next course!
