There are five versions or "Grades" of organic Ylang Ylang essential oil, created by distilling the plant material for different amounts of time called Fractions.
1. The first Fraction is called Extra. It is collected in the first hour or so of distillation, and is the most fragrant. Best for skin care use.
2. The next three Fractions are called 1, 11 and 111, and are collected over 12-20 hours of distillation. These are thought of as lower grades and not used so much in aromatherapy.
3. When all four Fractions of the distillation are combined i.e. Extra, 1, 11 and 111 this is called Complete. This is as close to the whole Ylang ylang essential oil you can get. Best for therapeutic use.
