Rare & Precious Oils

Rare & Precious Oils

Our selection of rare and precious organic oils and absolutes are carefully sourced from countries offering the best in quality and fragrance, such as Morocco, Iran, Turkey and Egypt.

Jasmine and Rose blossoms and also Neroli buds are all harvested in a similar way - handpicked at dawn when the fragrance is at its very best. The conditions have to be perfect to preserve the scent molecules.

A lot of care and dedication goes into bringing you these exquisite oils. For example, around 1200 roses are used to make just 1ml of essential oil.

*NEW* Organic Jasmine Essential Oil (Jasminum grandiflorum)

£40.87

Botanical Name - Jasminum grandiflorum

Aroma
- Sweet, intense, exotic floral aroma

Extraction - Steam distillation

A specialty product - Solvent extraction is the commonly used Jasmine extraction method, but NHR Organic Oils is one of the few companies in the world who offer this very rare and precious steam distilled essential oil. The new process lies within the scope of classical distillation but with a 'tweak' to it that was discovered after over 20 years of research. We are very excited about this breakthrough which is a world's first. The process is not the result of a technological breakthrough but rather a different approach at performing distillation.

Organic Rose Otto Essential Oil - Low methyl eugenol (Rosa damascena)

£33.87

Methyl eugenol (ME) is a naturally occurring compound found in oil distilled from rosa damascena (Otto) flowers. ME is an important bioactive compound with wide range of applications both in cosmetic and flavouring. However, at higher concentrations it can have some negative effects such as irritation to the skin.

In regular Rose Otto you would expect to find 0.80 – 6% ME with the average being around 2%. Our low ME contains ≤ 0.5% and can be as low as 0.12%

This is achieved by harvesting the rose blossoms at a specific stage of opening. The different stages of opening of the rose bud will yield different levels of ME in the oil distilled from it. Stages 3 and 4 rose flower buds (flower buds prior to the opening of petals) showed more than 5 times ME reduction and preservation of the relative content of the major rose oil compounds, compared to fully blown roses.

The low ME Rose Otto oil has a sweet and mild aroma, more delicate than the Rose Otto oil distilled from the fully open rose blossoms.

This specialist organic Rose Otto with a naturally low ME content makes it more suited to topical applications in beauty and skincare. It has not undergone any additional or artificial process to reduce the ME.

Please note: Organic Rose is a specialist oil and at temperatures below 20c it can crystalize. Gentle warming is required to return to liquid.
Please also be aware that 1ml & 2.5ml sizes come in a 5ml bottle so will not appear to be full.
For this precious oil, we recommend to use a glass rod or similar such as a toothpick to extract the oil from the bottle rather than using the dropper.
