Botanical Name - Butyrospermum parkii

Also known as - Karite Butter

Aroma - Mild, slightly smokey

Part of Plant - Kernel

Country of Origin - Ghana

Uses - Our unrefined Shea butter is best known for its moisturising properties for dry, dehydrated and damaged skins. Despite being rich and creamy it is easily absorbed into the skin and does not leave a greasy feeling.

It contains many antioxidants, plant sterols and EFAs which promote healthy cell growth and protect the skin from damage. It has been known to help prevent and minimise the appearance of stretch marks and scars. It can be used as an intensive conditioner on very dry, damaged hair.

The cold winter season can be very harsh on the skin, and Shea Butter is perfect for keeping the hands soft and supple.

For use during the summer, while organic Shea Butter has a natural SPF of around 6-10, it does not provide enough protection to be used on its own as a sun defense.

Organic Certificate - This oil is certified organic by the Soil Association, which means you can be sure that it has been produced to the highest ethical and environmental standards. The Soil Association’s standards exceed the UK government's minimum requirements for organic products in many areas, but particularly in animal welfare, GM and the use of pesticides. Standards are constantly reviewed to ensure they deal with current issues
